Planning a product roadmap and improving the product KPIs through innovative features and app redesign.

Marsplay’s product design was decent, however there was too much for the user to understand from the start which lead to a high drop off with the funnels.

Data driven decision making

40% of users were dropping at onboarding, with some minor tweaks we lowered that to 10%.

Having multiple login options is fine but emphasising on the primary login option which 80% of the users go after is essential – this insight helped improve our funnel drastically.

Poor Content Creation flow

Marsplay had a strong creator community, which meant it had the product needed to have an incredible creator tool.

There were challenges in the existing flow where creators were not able to tag their clothes properly.

Nor there was any user guide while creating content. We observed the data and started improving the experience optimising for each step the creator might take or need guidance on.

We ruled out all the possibilities where a creator might get stuck posting content; therefore we were able to improve the funnel by 40%.


Lack of feedback & visual cues

In the entire experience, a basic feedback loop was missing and there were no visual cues wherever necessary which lead to a drop-off.

First step was to have a look at what users were doing and cutdown on the features the users were not using. For e.g. repost was a feature in V1 which was removed after the revamp as repost only made sense when you had at least 10,000 pieces of content posted daily.

1. Redesigning the new interface, launching new features and better user experience.

2. Implementing consistency in branding colours.

3. Improving the user experience by giving a magazine view to enable fashion driven content for users leading to better engagement and CTR.

Reintroducing the product with consistent branding, delightful interface, and improved usability.

Improving User Onboarding experience

Earlier we had multiple login options, after observing data we saw a huge drop off in the onboarding funnel.

Action points:

  1. Remove noise.
  2. Have fewer options which 95% of our users are successfully using.

Hence we introduced login with mobile number and the drop off funnel reduced from 40% to 10%.

Solving content discoverability

We launched a new look with magazine view which helped users surf through the new and popular Fashion content easily.

Result : Engagement time increased by 36%.

Simpler creator flow

After making lots of user calls and feedback sessions with creators, we realised some loopholes in our creator funnel.

It was complex for a new creator to understand the flow.

A new simpler creator flow helped improve the number of creations happening on the platform.


19x growth in Posts & 2X growth in engagement time
